THE ADULT SCHOOL : A LOCAL LEGACY
When the Library of Congress celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2000, each Congressperson was asked to select one or two organizations within their district that best exemplified long-term service to the community. The Adult School was honored to be one of the groups selected as a Local Legacy.
A detailed history of The Adult School is written by the late Richard (Dick) Nichols, former long-time Trustee and Executive Board Member, became a part of the permanent collection of the United States Library of Congress. The South Orange - Maplewood Adult School was the only adult school among the large number of Local Legacy recipients.
